What usually causes this? I am running this for a front steer servo. I haven't had much luck with this servo to be honest. I already had it warrantied (repaired) over a month ago. I run a TQ3 radio. All other functions in my radio work fine forward, reverse/brake, rear steer servo. I only run one battery for the servos and motors. I have a Tekin Rebel 2 ESC. Is my TQ3 to blame possibly? Last time the HS5645 pooped out I switched all my channels around on my radio to check for a bad channel.
Thanks for any help. I am new to this stuff and have nobody that I know who can help. Albany doesn't have a hobby shop...

Correct me anyone if I am wrong, Most likely you burnt it up the first time is because of your radio. You need a radio with epa's when you use a digital servo. The reason it is glitching could be because of the BEC on your ESC. Your best bet would be getting a external BEC like the one from castle.

you cant use a tekin 2 on any digital servo.. somthing about the BEC in the speed control doesn't like digital servo's.. try putting an external BEC on it.. i highly recommend the Castle Creation BEC!

Definitely, the Rebel 2's BEC can do some really bizarre things to servos. I had one that would make the servo act like the arm was a pendulum. You would swing the servo lock to lock on the radio, and it would swing out past its L/R end points and then you let go of the wheel and then the arm would swing a few times back and forth progressively less until finally resting at center. It confused me to the point of giving up on it. That was after my Rebel 2 got packed with Carey's evil sand / mud concoction at one of his offroad Jamborees. I bet swapping to an RX pack or external BEC would help alot.

I thought the TekinRebel2 was good to use? Just not with digi servos huh? Ok so I'll order the castle BEC. I have no idea how to hook it up. Do they come with instructions? Is my TR2 ESC just not able to handle more voltage or is it that the servos drain too much off the battery? Is this what the RX pack would help with?
What is EPA? End point adjustment?
You can adjust steering trim with the TQ3...

i'm not sure why they dont like digital servo's? i've went threw two 5995 before i switched out my TR2.. no the CC BEC is not hard to put it...
yes the TQ3 has steering trim but that only tell the servo the center point.. EPA's tell the servo where to stop at the end of the throw so your not putting to much pressure on the servo...

The Rebel should be able to take a decent amount of voltage, so that shouldnt be an issue. Ive ran one all the time on 8 cells, and i think they can take 10 if the amp load is below a certain amount. They are great units, just the BEC is not so great.

Ok so what is a decent radio setup to get that will work with rear steer and have EPA?
I tried it today for 10min and no problems. The other day it started glitching after only a minute or two. So hopefully no more gremlins.
I may have forgotten to mention that the truck had been driven in water. That may be somewhat of a culprit. I did let it sit overnight but the next day it still had problems.
Perhaps I need to waterproof the ESC. I'll have to look for a suitable container...
