Okay I bought (2) AX-10 saddle bag battery packs, (8) cell 2/3A Elite 1450 Mah. One pack is still going strong, but the other one died? I only have like 3 or 4 runs on the bad one and now when I hook it up to my Pirahna Charger, it says No Battery and won't charge?

I used a multimeter to test for voltage and its says there is like 8.4 ? volts. So that tells me I don't have a broken wire or bad strap connection, Right? I do know the last run I had on teh battery I drain it completely where the car woudl barely move even on flat ground. (basically I just drove it back to the car)

Any ideas on how to get the pack working again?

My gut tells me one cell died, but why is it still showing voltage and won't charge?

If one cell died and it still shows voltage, its probably a weak cell. They can read full voltage, but when under a load (charge or discharge) they dump down really low and dont function. That sounds like you have a weak cell or 2.

Have you fully discharegd it, and tried to recharge?? You're welcome to throw it on my charger if you wish to try somethign different. Eric

I had Richard (CG RC shop) put the battery on his charger (which BTW is identical to mine) and it started charging! Huh? Anywas, I then took it home and put it back on mine and it seems to be charging... I'm even now more confused. but atleast its charging (this time)

I was told not to fully drain NiMH ;)

I was told not to fully drain NiMH ;)
why is that? NiMH dosn't have a memory? so why would it hurt it to fully discharge it?

I was told that one of my 4900 Nimj packs had discharged too far, causing one of the cells to go ?negative? or something like that, which in turn doesn't allow it to charge correctly. So I need to cycle the batt. a couple times.

But I ran it so dead it wouldn't even power the servo!

oh i've done that before. just put it on the charge discharge for a couple hours and it should be brand new!
