I havent been to Lucia or BoG, but I'll bet BOG will be less submerged, since it doesn't have the word "falls" in it:)
Gotta love snow melt lol!

Most everything next to a river is likely to be submerged for a few weeks.

I voted for BOTG. It has some great terrain to choose from. I don't think we've been there this season. It's difficult to know exactly where to go though, it's so spread out.

Today we; Solomon, KevenP and I went to BOTG and played for about three hours. I can't speak for the others,:lmao: but I had a great time. We went to the same place as the last comp we had there because Blue Lake Rd. was closed 1 1/2 miles in. We checked out both sides of the road and I think it will work out well for the next scale comp.:) Lonny:popcorn:

I voted BOTG. That place was fun, and I would like to explore a little more in that general area. :ole:

This time the FJ should not be on blocks, or rocks in this case.

Sh0rtlife
01-14-2009, 02:07 AM
getting up and going isnt so bad its the responasability of getting my mother setup before i leave so i can be gone for the day....soo when you say 730 add an hour+ to that

if the majority wants 9 so be it

I was lookin back at pics from the last comp you guys had there and read the road was realy bumpy gettin up there. My question is, how bad is the road? The reason i want to know is, I want to drive my mustang that is lowered, but if the road is to bad ill drive my truck.

A buck, each direction.
If your going to drive the Alfie, cross over into Wa and take HWY 14. Would be fun!

Sh0rtlife
01-15-2009, 06:24 PM
agreed 14 would be more fun..saving it for the drive home...besides isnt oregon side a higher speed limit(or atleast the vast majority of the movement on it is faster)

Den
01-15-2009, 07:18 PM
14 is a two lane winding road on the WA side. The speed limit ranges from 55 leaving Camas to 25 and 35 mph through the turns. 84 is a four lane highway on the OR side... much straighter and higher speed limit.

Be careful cuz Johnny sits in the shadows over there all the time.

Sh0rtlife
01-16-2009, 07:42 AM
dont i know it..OR side ill find a rabbit and tuck in behind him...if im lucky ill find a pack of rabbits and slip into the middle...save wa side for a fun drive home

i dont have my scale rig water proofed is that going to be an issue for this comp?

For those of you that live on the Westside or outside of the gorge area.... be prepared for cold temps and lots of wind!! I'm not too sure how well protected the comp area is but either way it's just a heads up.

Currently there are gusts around 50mph in Troutdale and outside temp of 39*.

Keven was just there and can probably confirm, but this location should be dry. It isn't beside the river. There may be some puddles and such from melting snow and run off.

If you're electronics are mounted above your tire height you should be ok at most any scale event... except of course if you make a mistake and flip over or drive off course or something. The rule of thumb for water hazards has been approximately tire height.

You're not coming out tomorrow?

I'll be cleaning up my aunts place since they had that landslide after all that snow and heavy rains. Plus I found out that due to the winds in Troutdale, my roof is pealing off and shingles are covering the backyard....we'll see when I get home.

Cascade Locks isn't too far from the Comp site, I spied this:

My wife and I just went for a nice Saturday afternoon drive up to the comp site. Took the dog with us. It was very windy and very cold, absolutely no water, which is good , now I don't have to worry about waterproofing my rig tonight.

FYI, there is a gun range just around the corner, I am going to bring my 9mm for a little noise making after the comp.

This was my first Scale Comp and I had a great time for the short amount of time I was there. I had to take off to do some honey-do's before the day was over. It was nice to meet new guys and is always a pleasure to crawler with the guys I know from the 2.2 pro. My Dodge Ram did ok. It is for sure not a rock crawler, but still count me in for the next comp.

that white dog did a good job for its first event..dont count it out just plan on tweekin it some

we should hit up the old murry hill quarry sometime..good place to test angles and side hillin..and close for both of us

dont mind me calling a dodge a dog...my ramcharger is known by those who know me as, "greendog" and ive been refering to dodge as "dog" for a long time..as a complement

Brown4

No worries "dog"... :) Just kidding :p. The front end is a little stiff and I need a better steering servo and most important of all, driving skills. Where is the Murry Hill Quarry? I am less then a mile from Scholls and Murry.

kinda hidden and VERY ominous at first glance..head for the haggens and you cant miss it..theres not much of it left but theres a few great scale hills on there for dialing stuff in..honeslty at first glance it looks like COMP stuff high skill 2.2 and super but theres some good beginer 2.2 lines and a old trail off to the left side around a tree that is great scale...drop me a PM when ya want to head out ill gladly meet ya up there and show ya what ive found
