Here is the start to my new Wheely King chassis... hopefully it will be done by the comp this weekend

Step one, machine rough skid plate

http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g142/sourdojack/Build%20Up/skid2.jpg

Next, machine rough side plates

http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g142/sourdojack/Build%20Up/Chassis2.jpg

Next, Bolted it together

http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g142/sourdojack/Build%20Up/Chassis4.jpg

Then took the bottom to the belt sander

The skid plate after I put it on a diet

http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g142/sourdojack/Build%20Up/skid3.jpg

Got the shocks and trans mounted

http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g142/sourdojack/Build%20Up/Chassis7.jpg

The assembled chassis ended up being exactly 2" wide. I could narrow it another 1/4", but I like having some "meat" to thread into on the transmission mounts.

Next up is mounting the motor between the front links!

Thanks for looking!

Looks like it's BATMAN inspired. Cool

That might be a good name for the chassis, The Bat Wing!

Well here is a picture of the motor plate I carved out last night

Got the links mounted up, now shes a roller!

Alright, I feel bad cause I haven't updated my build in forever

It has been driving real well ever since I softened up the dampening in the shocks. Even with the 30wt oil it was way too stiff.

Here is a pic with it all running

Here is the next addition to the Wheeny King...

The plate to get the Eritex dig to mount to my WK trans should be finished up tomorrow! I'm having my friend cut out 10 in case anyone is interesting in going over the top with a WK trans like I am :mmmgay:

Hopefully I will have more progress this week to post up!

almost forgot!

The clear motor plate I made was a POS and I kept stripping out spur gears from all the flex it had.

No flex with the new 1/4" thick aluminum mount!

Since you hate Hitech servo's anyway... be like the maniac you are and run that 645 at 6.5volts! I've never seen anyone let the smoke out of a servo yet.

I would pry have to so it is actually 6v after some of the voltage dissipates in the wire lol

So my machinest friend has been super swamped with work and hasn't been able to make my dig part... Ugh.

BUT

I did get him to e-mail me the solidworks file of the custom part. Anybody have recommendations on where to get a couple of these pieces cut up?

Well I bought some new axle parts. Figured I should up-date the Ol' thread with the changes I'm making.

Switching over to Axial axles, and I'm stealing a cool idea Chris the Battery Man had.

Lead axle weights!

This is just the start of the molding process... I'll post up more pics as I make progress.

The idea is to have lead in the bottom half of the front axle housing.

These are just blue RTV silicone of course.

Sorry I haven't updated my build up in a while. Here are some pics that I took a while ago when I put the Axial axles and Super 300's on!

This is a stock "shock razor" from VP. I'm running these front and rear to keep my suspension geometry really close to what it was with the WK axles.

http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g142/sourdojack/Build%20Up/0522101247.jpg

Here is what I did to the front Razors to inboard the lower links

http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g142/sourdojack/Build%20Up/0522101254.jpg

Now I get the full 52* of turning! And the track width is right at 10"

Before in-boarding:

After in-boarding:

All ready to run!

Are there any rules against how many people can compete with a truck? I'll let you drive it!

I have more fun building these things than I do driving em.

Keep an eye out, I might do a similar set-up for a Losi chassis!

The two huge advantages that truck has over a Losi is the ground clearance, and turning radius..

We need super 300's for Losi's!! :mr-t:
