WTF!? how the hell do they keep getting in?

we already have email confirmation right?

my friend uses some system where the people that want to join have to type out a paragraph or so on some promt they have. it works alright, we get barely any spam bots anymore.

There are bots that can defeat the email confirmation. I've been trying to get the image security feature working, but I havent figured it out yet.

just go back to the manual confirmation. Have a short paragraph as a question, and send a message to an admin that says

"so and so wants to join.

paragraph they wrote."

The admin decides to approve or not. Issue is solved. I'd be willing to approve stuff, i check here and email daily.

We tried that on the last board. I would receive about 40 emails per day... if I skipped 1-3 days then it'd take me 3 hours to get through them.

I think the current setup is working good. We can easily remove the threads and delete the users. Each morning I go through and delete new users with a certain email addy that is known for producing spammers.

Great ideas always come from those that don't have to do the duties. Ryan and myself are both busy and can't watch the board, check email and watch everything that goes on.... we have normal lives. Spending 1 hour per day here is about all that I can do and that's if I'm lucky.

No worries, there are other things we can do to eliminate the spam. It's pretty minimal as it is...

I was willing to help if you guys needed it. I'm out of school, and I now have ALOT of extra time on my hands. I do nothing from about 3-5 other than sit on my ass and play video games.
