Ok, so my current set up is an emaxx, single motor, 4 linked chassis with a tq3 remote and rear steer. I have a problem. When my e-maxx was together, it worked just fine. Ever since I swapped everything over to my crawler chassis, I have had poor radio reception and it picks up a TON of interference. I swapped the reciever out of my t-maxx and it did the same thing. I made sure the antenna wasn't touching the chassis at all and that made a big difference. So currently, I am using a water bottle cap on top of the reciever with the antenna wrapped around it and electrical taped down. Well, it's still going balistic at points. Sometimes the throttle will be nice and you can ease into it, but other times, no matter how soft u are, it has only 2 speeds: stop and warp speed. Any body know why it picks up so much radio interference ad why the throttle might be like that?
Thanx,
Joe

Is the recever near any other electronics? And is the cable anywhere close to electronics? That will make your truck go crazy! Especialy near the batterys wires.

Hello! Here is your problem. It sounds like you have your antenna coiled up..correct? Why? Get a antenna tube and use it. Anyone that decides to coil up their antenna is only asking for issues.
Don't worry about having an antenna sticking out of your body, your driving a toy...

Holy wires Batman!!
First, you only need one battey and one motor. Second, the best mod I ever did with my Maxx Crawler was to run a 5-cell AA receiver pack. The receiver pack will supply the servos with their power and the main battery will only be used for the motor(s).
Here is how my Maxx looked RTR....(crappy image but still you get the idea)... Clutter is bad. Make everything nice and clean. It'll not only look good but you'll probably kill off any glitching as you know where everything is at.

Most RC things I'm not all that great at but this is one area I'm somewhat knowlegable in.
First, radio waves travel pretty much like sound waves spreading out in all directions from the transmiting antenna. As they move they strike things and reflect off them. Especially metal. Some things they bounce off can actually amplify them depending on construction.
Motors, ESC other radios, Metal buildings all create more radio waves wich may be close to your frequency making it harder for your reciever to hear the proper transmission. Sort of like talking to a friend at a really loud party,
Add in that (despite what the manufacturers say) the RC type of reciever is about equivalent in reception quality to handheld radios from 40 years ago due to having to fit in a really small place even with the small electronics of today.
This is because a proper antenna has a vertical element and a horizontal element about the same length tuned to the frequency spectrum you are using. Your 1:1 car has a vertical element coming out of the car body at some point wether its the rubbery kind or the shiny telescoping metal kind it's the same. So where's the horizontal element? It's the body of the CAR. Where's the vertical element in the RC receiver? That's the long thin wire you have wrapped around the bottle cap,, battery pack, body post, driveshaft...
And the horizontal element? There aint one dude!
To help your receiver out as much as possible You should have the antenna extended it's full length close to vertical as possible. That doesn't mean it won't work wrapped around something. I'm a big fan of doing what works. If you are having problems put up your antenna just like you would in a 1:1 car.

ok, well, i put an antenna tube on today, cleaned up some of my wiring and did the single battery mod...it seems to be running better...:) im just wondering tho, does the single battery mod on an emaxx have a negative affect??? all i did was i bought a battery cable off of tower hobbies and connected the black and red wire together to complete the circuit

The battery doesn't emit as much RFI as the motor and ESC. You should keep the wires separate from the antenna if possible is all.
